Last Friday, students from the University of Strathclyde’s Naval Architecture Department visited the Ferguson Marine yard in Port Glasgow. As home to one of the world’s leading naval architecture programmes, Strathclyde is renowned for producing the next generation of maritime innovators — and there is no better place to see that innovation in action than on the banks of the Clyde.
During the visit, students immersed themselves in the realities of modern shipbuilding, exploring a vessel under construction and gaining first-hand insight into the engineering discipline, precision, and teamwork that underpin operations at FMPG.
The enthusiasm and depth of knowledge demonstrated by the students reinforced the importance of the technical rigour embedded within Strathclyde’s curriculum.
At Ferguson Marine, we are committed to supporting and developing talent across the STEM landscape. This visit forms part of our ongoing efforts to inspire, engage, and invest in emerging engineers who will go on to lead the maritime industry forward.
