Ferguson Marine Awarded ISO 45001:2018 Health and Safety Certification

Ferguson Marine (Port Glasgow) has proudly been awarded the ISO 45001:2018 Certificate of Approval by leading certification body LRQA. This internationally recognised accreditation marks a milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to the highest standards of occupational health and safety.

The approved scope of work includes the design and build of a wide range of marine vessels, such as ferries, patrol vessels, oil industry support vessels, and research vessels, as well as the fabrication of marine and industrial structures. The certification also covers marine support services, including the design, fabrication and repair of pipework and hydraulic systems, and technical drawing services.

The ISO 45001 certificate reinforces Ferguson Marine’s dedication to a safe working environment, continuous improvement, and industry-leading compliance practices.

Stephen McAllister, Ferguson Marine’s Head of HSE said:

“Achieving the ISO 45001 certification is a testament to the collective efforts of our entire team and our focus on building a safety-first culture. It formalises what we strive to do every day, making sure that our workforce operates in an environment where health and safety is priority.”

This certification follows several key developments at Ferguson Marine in 2025, including leadership appointments and ongoing progress on major vessel construction projects.

The recognition by LRQA aligns Ferguson Marine with global standards and strengthens the shipyard’s position as a trusted partner in delivering quality, innovation, and safety to Scotland’s maritime sector.
