Ferguson Marine apprenticeship applications now open for January 2027
Ferguson Marine is looking for the next generation of shipbuilders as we announce that applications for our apprenticeship programme open on Thursday 1st October, with 12 positions available across the yard.
For generations, Port Glasgow has been home to some of Scotland's finest shipbuilding talent, and our apprentices are central to carrying that tradition forward. As a Ferguson Marine apprentice, you'll learn your trade alongside experienced craftspeople, gain hands-on experience, and study towards a nationally recognised qualification through West College Scotland, all while being paid.

What you'll need to apply
Applicants should be aged 16-24 and have achieved, or be expecting to achieve the following by January 2027:
Maths (National 4 at Grade B or above)
English (National 5 at Grade B or above)
Science or Technical (National 5 at Grade B or above)
We're also looking for people who:
Enjoy practical, hands-on work and take pride in doing a job accurately
Have a good eye for detail and strong concentration
Are keen to learn, reliable, and work well as part of a team
Can communicate clearly with colleagues across the yard
No previous shipbuilding experience is needed. We'll give you the training and support to develop your skills throughout your apprenticeship
