Job title: Mechanical Fitter

Location: Onsite Port Glasgow

Duration: 6 months 

Pay: £17.07 per hour

 

Job Overview:

We are currently looking for a skilled Fitter to join our team to support the production plan.

 

Duties:

  • To work as part of a multi-disciplined team to assist planning and carrying out tasks successfully. ·
  • Installs and repairs systems, apparatus, hydraulic and pneumatic industrial machinery and equipment following current regulations, manufacturers guidelines and technical drawings. ·
  • Carry out routine maintenance and scheduled checks set to them by Supervision and log and sign on the relevant documentation. ·
  • Respond immediately to equipment breakdowns ·
  • Overhaul, replace and repair of faulty mechanical components as per manufacturers guidelines.
  • To have the capability to communicate issues and problems with the relevant knowledge and ease. ·
  • Diagnosis of malfunctioning machinery using detailed manuals and drawings. ·
  • Carry out quality inspections on new equipment ·
  • Work with both minimum supervision and as part of a team to successfully reach goals set to them.

Experience:

  • A wide range of engineering skills are required for shipbuilding. The ability to understand and put into practice different forms of data taken from drawings plans, elevations, schematics and pipe drawings.
  • The ability to measure and record accurately dimensions.
  • To follow installation processes and conforming to marine standards.
  • Experience with a full range of hand tools as well as power tools and specialist tools.
  • Install set up and commission ships system. Heavy lifting and moving of equipment.

 

Qualifications:

  • Certified apprenticeship
  • City and Guilds
  • HNC & HND
