Job Title: Business Improvement Manager
Location: Port Glasgow (Onsite)
Salary: c£70K + generous benefits package
Overview
The Business Improvement Manager will be responsible for all continuous improvement activities in the business. You will play a vital role in optimizing investment in the shipyard, executing a business plan and overall improvements in facilities, manufacturing processes, equipment, IT services whilst reducing waste, and enhancing efficiency.
What you will be doing
Leading continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Analyse production workflows to identify inefficiencies and implement solutions.
Drive Lean Manufacturing methodologies to enhance productivity.
Collaborate with engineering teams to improve equipment utilization, planned maintenance, calibration and certification and reduce downtime.
Co-ordinating with internal stakeholders including the IT Dept and external ERP specialist, oversee ERP statement of requirements, ERP product selection and implementation to streamline operations and data management.
Develop and execute strategic roadmaps for ERP implementation and process optimisation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth ERP system integration.
Oversee change management initiatives to facilitate user adoption and minimize disruption.
Manage stakeholder expectations, providing regular updates on project progress.
Working with FM HR Training function, conduct training sessions related to facility and process development to instil a culture of continuous improvement.
Working with Production Engineering, monitor indicators such as cycle time, defect rates, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Work closely with quality control to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Liaising with Procurement and internal stakeholders, working closely with the supply chain to support the specification, procurement, installation, training and roll out of machinery and processes. This is to include agreed warranty, spares and ongoing training.
Project Manage the phased development of the improvements, managing and report on progress and budget spend.
Key Requirements
Preferentially a Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or demonstrable related experience.
Experience in Shipbuilding or Maritime Fabrication preferred however experience in heavy fabrication design and build will be considered.
Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies.
Proficiency in ERP systems for manufacturing environments.
Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams to drive improvements
Strong organisational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
