Commercial Contract Manager

Job Title: Commercial Contracts Manager

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Location: Port Glasgow

Department: Corporate Services

Salary: Competitive

You will lead and manage the end-to-end contracting process across the organisation, ensuring that all contracts are legally sound, commercially viable, and aligned with strategic objectives.

The Contracts Manager will act as a key liaison between internal stakeholders and external partners, mitigating risk and driving value through effective contract negotiation, management, and compliance.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of contracts including supplier agreements, service contracts, NDAs, and partnership agreements.
  • Ensure contracts comply with legal requirements, company policies, and industry regulations.
  • Collaborate with procurement, legal, finance, and operational teams to support contract lifecycle management.
  • Monitor contract performance, obligations, and deliverables, ensuring timely renewals, amendments, and terminations.
  • Maintain a centralised contract repository and ensure accurate record-keeping and version control.
  • Identify and mitigate contractual risks, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on contract terms and best practices.
  • Support dispute resolution and contract enforcement processes when necessary.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of contract templates, processes, and governance frameworks.

 

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in contract management, commercial law, or procurement.
  • Strong understanding of contract law and legal terminology.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in contract management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

 

Desirable:

  • Degree in Law, Business, or related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., IACCM, CIPS).
  • Experience in [e.g., public sector, marine construction or engineering].

  • Internal: Procurement, Finance, Operations, Project Teams
  • External: Legal, Suppliers, Clients, Legal Advisors, Regulatory Bodies

 

Measures of Success:

  • Timely execution and renewal of contracts.
  • Reduction in contractual risk exposure.
  • Improved stakeholder satisfaction and compliance.
  • Efficient contract lifecycle management and reporting.
