Freedom of Information

As a company wholly owned by the Scottish Ministers, Ferguson Marine (Port Glasgow) Ltd (FMPG) is a public authority under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.  From 9th August 2019, any information held by FMPG is accessible by the public on written request, subject to certain limited exemptions. Classes of information routinely made available by FMPG are listed in our Publication Scheme. Full details of our publication scheme can be downloaded here.

The scheme requires that the public can access information about:

  • Services provided
  • Cost of those services
  • Standard attained by those services
  • Facts which form the basis of decisions taken
  • Importance to the public
  • Publication of reasons for decisions made

As part of FMPG’s ongoing commitment to openness and transparency, the publication scheme will be periodically reviewed. Your comments are welcome and will help revise and update our scheme.

How to make a request

Requests for information not listed in the Publication Scheme must be made in writing, detailing the information sought and giving an address for the response. Email or faxed communication is also acceptable:

Requests will be dealt with as quickly as possible and within the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002’s statutory timescales. If a fee is payable, applicants will be notified of this in advance as payment will be required before a response is provided.
