We understand the need to offer high quality green engineering solutions. Our facilities are also continually enhanced to provide best-in-class onshore and offshore fabrication and engineering capabilities underpinned by trusted sub-contract partners.
Design
Ferguson Marine is able to offer complete ship design, vessel design and engineering design support. We have the expertise to work in partnership with customers from the formulation of initial concepts through to the provision of final production drawings. Supporting certification and documentation can also be produced.
Our uniquely flexible in-house design department is led by a qualified naval architect and utilises both 2D and 3D design tools to optimise the performance, reliability and durability of:
- Ships, ferries and other vessels
- Marine and non-marine structures
- Mechanical structures and assemblies
- Electrical, hydraulic and pipework installations
Project Management
Ferguson Marine is committed to exceeding customer expectations and we ensure that every contract is carefully overseen by a dedicated Project Manager.
We have developed a proven approach that allows us to consistently complete projects on time and in full. This approach provides the flexibility required to adapt to and accommodate any changes that may be made to the specification after a contract has been awarded.
Our Project Managers and their teams have in-depth knowledge in their respective fields and they work proactively to deliver projects to the highest possible standards and within pre-agreed timescales. They are equipped with advanced project management software that allows us to closely monitor projects at each stage and provide daily updates on the current status compared with key deliverable milestones.
Ferguson Marine can also provide project management services for external contracts from initial planning to completion and deployment.
Fabrication
Ferguson Marine is one of the foremost structural fabrication specialists and has the capability to provide the complete service.
Our dedicated 5,000 square metre fabrication facility on the banks of the Clyde is home to one of the UK’s most highly skilled, certified fabrication teams and is equipped with state-of-the-art transport bays; overhead and mobile cranes; TIG, MIG and MMA welding and plasma and gas cutting equipment. This allows us to confidently undertake mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium structural fabrications.
In order to provide a single source of supply, we can oversee the entire process from design and material procurement to fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair. We also specialise in the fabrication of ships, ferries and other vessels alongside structures such as bridges, vehicle ramps, canal gates and robust mechanical plant and machinery.

Joinery
Our in-house joiners are established as one of the UK’s most respected ship outfitting, marine outfitting and bespoke joinery contractors.
Working from a modern 860 square metre workshop, a team of engineers and craftsmen design, manufacture and install interiors for a vast selection of vessels in both new build and retrofit applications. We also specialise in vessel conversion, repair and refurbishment and work with a host of materials including timber, laminate, glass, plastic and fabrics. All work is completed in accordance with MCA requirements.
High quality bespoke joinery installations can also be manufactured for customers operating in most non-marine market sectors.

Hydraulics
Our skilled technicians are experienced in all aspects of hydraulic system design, fabrication, pipework and installation. We can also configure bespoke hydraulic systems for vessels, rams, cylinders, lifts, cranes and other structures and specify and fit the complete system down to hoses and accessories.
Our 220 square metre in-house manufacturing facility and in-depth expertise allow us to work with standard and specialist materials. In addition, we undertake oil cleanliness flushing and testing of both low and high pressure applications operating from 50 to 300 bar respectively.
Training can also be provided to customer teams that will be operating newly installed or upgraded hydraulic systems.
Pipework
With a fully equipped 850 square metre fabrication shop and industry leading technical expertise, Ferguson marine is perfectly placed to design, manufacture, fit and maintain land based and marine fluid handling systems.
As with our other engineering services, we offer a comprehensive, single source solution that encompasses procurement, pipe-spooling and assembly and are able to exploit mild steel, stainless steel, cunifer, aluminium and other materials. Pipework systems are also prefabricated in our own facility to minimise on-site installation time and disruption.
Our certified fabricators can bend, cut and flange pipework and employ approved, cutting edge MIG, TIG and MMA welding processes. Furthermore, we can engineer pipework systems for most applications including:

Electrical
We have developed partnerships with a network of carefully selected, fully qualified sub-contractors who specialise in electrical systems and electronics.
These partnerships allow us to provide design and build solutions for marine and non-marine markets. Our team can produce full electrical drawings and AutoCAD designs, specify and select cabling and provide exceptional project management. With flexibility in mind, we can also modify and upgrade existing electrical systems.

Field Services
Ferguson Marine understands the need to provide on-site support.
Our experienced engineers can therefore be deployed to undertake ship field servicing at customer locations nationwide. We have developed the ability to respond rapidly to any requirement and our team is available 24/7 to resolve issues and complete quality assured emergency repairs.
Our ship field servicing solutions have also been designed to be highly cost-effective whilst minimising production downtime and disruption.
